Ricardo has over 32 years of business experience with companies ranging in size from start-ups to those with over $550 million in revenues. He began his career in the telecom industry in Chile, serving for five years in the implementation of the first cellular network covering the entire country. During this time, he mastered skills in all areas of accounting, budgeting, reporting, and cost control.
Thanks to the experience gained and the skills developed, Ricardo was recruited by major competitors to lead a project deploying a data network throughout Latin America. This project included facilities in Chile, Peru, Brazil, Colombia, Venezuela, Mexico, and a hub in the United States, reaching consolidated revenues of over $100 million. Ricardo served as corporate CFO until the company was sold in 2000. In this position, Ricardo developed valuable contacts, which helped him secure a new role as Financial Director at a Miami-based company. He held this position for six years until the company was sold to a private equity firm based in Maryland. This company achieved revenues of up to $350 million, serving the Hispanic community in the United States.
Ricardo was then hired by the largest calling card distributor in Florida. After serving as CFO for almost a year, he received an attractive offer from a salmon farming company to become the Controller/CFO of their sales and distribution company based in Florida.
The transition from the telecom to the seafood industry was very challenging, considering that one is an intangible service and the other is a tangible, perishable product. Understanding the business was the first challenge, followed by developing and proposing appropriate KPIs, writing and establishing SOP processes, and adapting all systems to make sound business decisions. As Controller/CFO, Ricardo was responsible for all financial and accounting operations, managing a team of five people directly.
Throughout his more than 15 years at Multi X, Ricardo has proven to be a highly competent and committed professional. His knowledge and experience in the financial and administrative fields, as well as his ability to face and solve complex problems, have been crucial to the company’s success. Notably, he facilitated the fast integration of a new ERP system and negotiated a transfer pricing agreement with the IRS, closing 10 years of uncertainty and demonstrating that the prices paid to the related company in Chile were fair based on economic factors.
Ricardo played a direct role in managing the impressive growth of revenues from $60 million in 2007 to over $553 million in 2023. As a result of this growth, Accounts Receivable became the largest asset of Multi X, and Ricardo was directly responsible for reviewing applications and setting credit limits for each customer based on corporate policies. Under Ricardo’s management, there is no record of uncollectible invoices.
Ricardo is based in Miami and has excellent interpersonal skills. He is fully bilingual and highly skilled in Microsoft Office tools, with strong experience in ERP systems. He is a very hands-on person, always demonstrating a positive attitude and a willingness to take on additional responsibilities, such as running the company during the pandemic year with no losses and implementing the new ERP system simultaneously. He is dedicated and committed to his colleagues, contributing to a positive work environment.
