Seth Asofsky

Principal

Seth Asofsky offers a unique blend of business and banking experience with a proven record with high-growth entrepreneurial organizations. Most recently, he was CFO for a West Palm Beach-based company, Phipps Reporting, that was acquired in 2022 by a national, private-equity backed company. Seth was a corporate and investment banker for more than 18 years before joining his client, Planet Payment, to build an emerging business into a global, NASDAQ-listed company, serving first as CFO for 6 years, and then as SVP, acting in COO and sales functions, for 7 more years. In addition to deep and robust finance credentials, Seth has extensive experience guiding companies through acquisitions, sale/exit process, bank financing, and private equity and public equity raises.

Seth joined Phipps Reporting, after two years as a CFO consultant with Nperspective, to a newly created CFO role to upgrade and professionalize the accounting and finance functions.  Within weeks after joining in early 2020, he steered, with the CEO, COVID triage and executed urgent initiatives which helped to drive a recovery back to a double-digit growth pattern. As Phipps’ CFO, Seth led the transition from cash to accrual basis, oversaw Phipps’ first-ever annual reviews with a nationally ranked accounting firm, implemented flash and monthly financial reporting and analysis, and created monthly forecast and budget models, weekly cash flow projections, and dashboard schedules tracking financial performance and leading indicator KPIs.  Seth played an integral role in financial communication, due diligence and disclosure process with acquiring company leading to closing.

As Phipps’ CFO, Seth prepared valuation analyses on acquisition targets and completed six acquisitions.  He established an internal AR collection function that resulted in an over 80% reduction in long-dated AR balances and more than $1.5mm in cash flow from past due invoices. Seth designed and oversaw third-party development of custom online payment portal with back-end transactional reporting and renegotiated improved terms and conditions on Bank credit lines.  Seth replaced PEO with own benefit platform negotiating health benefits, creating own 401k Plan, and implementing a new payroll processor and HR platform.

As Planet Payment’s CFO, Seth raised more than $40 million in private equity and completed a $10 million IPO on the London Stock Exchange’s AIM market. Seth led all aspects of the accounting lifecycle, including cash flow management, financial projections, statement preparation and Investor / Board presentations. Later as SVP at Planet, Seth had oversight for the day-to-day activities of the Americas business (U.S., Canada, and expansion into Latin America) and was the lead conduit from the business-side to operations, software and IT development, and accounting departments. In both CFO and SVP roles, he was responsible for designing, maintaining, and monitoring financial models and projections, as well as formulating revenue structures and pricing terms and conditions.

Seth’s 18-year banking career included public and private equity, mergers and acquisitions, debt and structured finance transactions. He led investment banking practices at ThinkEquity Partners and was a VP with SG Cowen’s Technology Investment Banking Group. Earlier, Seth was a corporate banker with Societe Generale, working with Fortune 1000 companies and financial buyer clients.

Seth holds an MBA from Emory University’s Goizueta Business School and graduated cum laude with a BS dual degree from Syracuse University’s S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communication and Whitman School of Management. He serves as CFO and Board Member for Vets2Set, and served on the Board of Directors for Island Harvest Food Bank in New York before assuming his current role as a member of the organization’s Monsignor Thomas Hartman President’s Council.
